Excellence in Journalism 2016, hosted by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), the Native Amereican Journalists Association and RTDNA aims to provide journalists with the industry’s best training and networking opportunities.

One of the main attractions at the conference is the journalism expo and career fair, filled with vendors and recruiters hoping to talk with journalists from across the country. And along with the booths and displays, attendees could watch New Orleans cooking demonstrations, take coffee breaks or even listen to a live jazz band! Hundreds of attendees enjoyed the sweet tunes while live streaming the band and posing for selfies.

EIJ16 gives journalists an opportunity to advance their career, with dozens of training sessions. And for those looking for their next job, recruiters are at the ready, who are eager to meet current and future journalists.

Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc and TEGNA Inc are two of the many companies offering critiques to young journalists looking to get into the field and those looking to make their next move. You can see the full list of companies with a presence on the floor on the conference website.
