RTDNA, coalition call for live Supreme Court audio

Following the Supreme Court’s announcement that it will hear cases on same-sex marriage this term, the Coalition for Court Transparency, of which RTDNA is a member, issued the following statement:
When the Supreme Court convenes to hear oral arguments in the same-sex marriage cases, millions of interested Americans could be denied the opportunity to tune in. Instead, we call on Chief Justice Roberts and the Supreme Court to make this audio available in real-time over the Internet so that Americans everywhere can hear their government at work. We know that the Supreme Court has the technology to make this possible, as audio of the oral arguments is already broadcast live in the “Lawyers’ Lounge” and, in some circumstances, released at the end of the day. This historic occasion is an opportunity for Chief Justice John Roberts to embrace basic 21st century technology, as he promised us in his end of year address.
