Robert Papper, Hofstra University, discusses RTNDA's latest research on news websites - how we're using them, what staff is working on them, what they feature, are they turning a profit, are they seeing increases in traffic and more.

Follow along below as Scott Woelfel, President and CEO of Armchair Media discusses the features of the most successful news websites.  How are they successful?  Learn how to implement these features on your own website and learn how to increase traffic in the process.  Scott will also explore the Breaking News model - newsrooms tend to run breaking news on TV first, web second, when statistics indicate, especially during the day, that more people come to a website for news than watch it on television.  How can you change this model for your newsroom, make it less reliant on TV and more on the web and mobile technology?

Fast changing technology means new ways of telling stories and connecting with our audiences, it also means managing ethical questions that arise online. Does your newsroom have online standards consistent with what you would air?  What are your station’s guidelines for bloggers?  How are you confirming the accuracy of information from citizen journalists and how are your treating user comments?  What new issues are you grappling with when using Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites?  Follow along with the discussion below.

Moderator: Steve Schwaid, Director of News and Digital Content,  WGCL-TV
Panelists: Amani Channel, My Urban Report
Mike Dreaden, Managing Editor, WSB-TV
Tessa Horehled, Editor-in-Chief, Drive a Faster Car
Josh Levs, CNN, iReport
