Day #3 from the RNC: A First Glimpse at Palin
There is nothing like live television especially when something significant happens. This morning while I was anchoring our morning show from the Xcel Energy Center we were thrust in the midst of a big news event.
While I was tossing back to my co-anchor and meteorologist back in the studio, I saw my camera operator Trish out of the corner of my eye say something like "that's Palin" and point to the stage which was behind me. As our meteorologist Patrick Hammer started to talk, I interrupted him and told him we were in the midst of some news.
Governor Sarah Palin, like other speakers, was getting a chance to see the stage, the podium and test out the microphone where she will be speaking tonight. It is a speech that many say is crucial for the McCain-Palin ticket. There have been so many stories and rumors floating around about her and her family and now she will have the opportunity to address the delegates and the nation. Check out the video from KSTP.
It was fascinating how calm and cool she looked as people showed her around and pointed out the teleprompters. She had a smile on her face as dozens of still photographers and television photographers recorded her every move.
I will be taking a long nap today so I will be fully awake for this speech tonight. This election is truly historic and I don't want to miss a moment.
