Chairman's Column: My Brief Visit to the Head of the Class

As I may have mentioned before, I'm the oldest of 11 children (the kind of household the Nielsen folks would covet).
One responsibility of being the eldest is similar to that of teacher, passing down some of the lessons I'd learned -- little things, such as how to parallel park a car, or how to dry two dinner dishes at one time while working on a math homework problem.
My mom and dad handled the big lessons, but I was still the big brother, the adviser, the teacher. Being an instructor is probably something I learned from my paternal grandparents, both of whom were teachers in Wisconsin. But I never realized how tough a job teaching can be until a visit last month to Pennsylvania State University.
