VDO and AstuceMedia Work with Boston’s WBZ to Create an “Alternative, Curious Brandâ€
March 11, 2008
Boston, MA: WBZ’s mission to further build on their
position as the alternative to “traditional†news in the competitive New
England marketplace was heightened by the addition of a new graphics package
from VDO and AstuceMedia.
“The new graphics helped
bring our brand to life,†said Wendy McMahon, Creative Services Director for
WBZ. “Both
VDO and AstuceMedia helped us upgrade our clean look into a more fluid, more
contemporary version of ourselves. We
are now as clearly differentiated in our day to day news aesthetic as we are in
our marketing.â€
“Wendy and her team came to us with style boards,
and asked us to give it the VDO “touch†to elevate the look,†said Dianne Streyer,
VP & General Manager of VDO. “We designed the HD news opens and promo
elements and literally put their ideas in motion with high-end animation. The project was a true collaboration from
start to finish.â€
“A Seamless Transitionâ€
“Operationally, our VizRt trainer said our
transition was as seamless as he’s ever seen, “said McMahon. “That was in no small part due to the help,
advice and hand-holding provided by both companies.â€
“It was exciting to ensure that WBZ’s new graphics
work flawlessly on the air,†said Alex Leclerc, CEO of AstuceMedia. “We worked
with their operational and design team for months, making sure everyone was
fully trained on the new system. The
result was a smooth and successful launch.â€
WBZ Design Director Arne Jensen agreed. “The complexity of the VizRt system requires
people who know how to make the system sing, not just function. VDO and AstuceMedia are those people, and I
would highly recommend them to any station.â€
Overall, McMahon said the station and its viewers
are enthusiastic about their new look.
“VDO and AstuceMedia listened to what we wanted to do, who we are, and
what we believed in – then respected it and elevated it.â€
