Canon U.S.A., Inc.

As television news continues to transition to HDTV, the Broadcast and Communications division of Canon U.S.A., Inc. is delivering a wide variety of HD lenses designed for every HDTV news-production application.

For portable HD ENG cameras with 2/3-inch imagers, Canon offers its premium eHDxs line of zoom lenses and the top-tier eDrive Series of Canon’s cost-effective new HDgc line of zoom lenses. Both categories include built-in 2x extenders and Canon’s exclusive digital eDrive feature that enables users to program functions such as zoom and focus settings for precise, automated repeatability.

Canon engineered its HDgc line to support the new generation of economical, tapeless HD ENG camcorders and HD POV cameras from all major broadcast camera manufacturers. In addition to the eDrive Series, the HDgc line also includes the Economical Series and Remote-Control Series of HD lenses for cameras with 2/3, 1/2, or 1/3-inch imagers. These lenses offer a wide range of choices in focal lengths, zoom ratios, and wide-angle performance.

For full-size HD studio cameras, meanwhile, Canon has recently introduced the new, industry-leading DIGISUPER 27AF with Canon’s unique Auto Focus technology and the widest angle of any lens in its class. For users preferring to use a portable HD camera in the news studio, Canon invented an entirely new category of HD studio lens: the Compact DIGISUPER 22xs. Weighing approximately 13.4 lbs., the DIGISUPER 22xs is appropriately sized for portable HD cameras configured for studio use or for robotic applications.
