Keillor and his political activity
Keiller is the broadcast descendant of my fellow Texan, John Henry Faulk. Faulk was blacklisted by fellow travelers of a Senator from my state of residence, Wisconsin. The blacklisters were the political ancestors of the same people who fund the right wing noise machine today. You can read the whole story in the book, Fear on Trial. While checking the Wikipedia article on this I noted that Faulk's legal help for that trial was bankrolled by then CBS News vice-president Edward R. Murrow. Murrow's name now appears on Facebook in postings referred from RTNDA's website including this one that says Keiller should think about cooling it and not antagonizing those who disagree with his politics. Mr. Duffy wrote this: "(Keillor's) not breaking any journalism ethics, but he’s not doing journalists at local stations any favors either." I'm guessing many news directors at CBS stations probably didn't think Faulk "was doing them any favors, either." Someone should check the RTNDA's archives to see what Mr. Duffy's predecessor in the 1950''s had to say about Murrow.

Keillor and Obama
I am not sure why we should expect Garrison to be helpful to journalists. His job is entertainment and as the column says he can spend his money any way he likes. Public radio stations shouldn\'t be worried ablout people cancelling their memberships. They should focus on producing quality news and entertainment programs. I think the audience will appreciate that more than us engaging in a debate with critics in the conservative pun ditry. Just ignore tham as we seem to do pretty well with the pundits from the left who also don\'t like what some of our reporters and commentators do and say.

G. Keillor
Do I recall correctly that anyway this is Keillor's pre-announced last season of PHC? And also note that NPR still has a wonderful Christmas Day story they have frequently broadcast Christmas morning on Morning Edition from good ol' John Henry Faulk.
