WASHINGTON --The Radio Television Digital News Association continued its webinar series today with “Social Media Boot Camp,” designed to help news organizations establish an effective social media strategy, get them connected with their audiences, and distribute content.  Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn were discussed in detail and answers to social media questions posed by the audience in the days leading up to the webinar, submitted via a special Twitter feed, @RTDNABootCamp,  were provided.

The webinar was hosted by Sree Sreenivasan, the dean of student affairs and a professor of new media at Columbia University’s School of Journalism. Sree is a contributing editor at DNAinfo.com.  He was named one of AdAge's 25 media people to follow on Twitter and was one of 22 professors named to the "Top 100 Twitterers in Academia" by OnlineSchools.org.  His Twitter feed is @sreenet.

"The Social Media Bootcamp webinar answered questions we hear every day from news managers about social media.  The opportunity for members to submit questions in advance of today's webinar and have them answered by one of the foremost experts in social media really addresses a need for RTDNA members to get personalized, relevant and important information in an interactive environment.  The webinar series is quickly becoming one of the most important RTDNA member benefits," said RTDNA Chairman Stacey Woelfel.

The webinar was free to RTDNA members and non-members were charged a small fee to join; 100 people joined the webinar.  RTDNA will offer these free webinars on a monthly basis to its members as a member benefit. The slides and audio from today’s webinar will be posted online for RTDNA members; they will need to log in to access the material.
