U.S. Department of Labor - O*Net Project
The Radio
Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has been asked by the U.S.
Department of Labor to assist in identifying Reporters and Correspondents who may be asked to complete
brief, objective questionnaires about the tasks, work context, and knowledge
requirements of their occupation. RTI
International, under contract with the United States Department of Labor, is asking
for help to populate the O*NET database with essential data about Reporters and
Correspondents that is valid, reliable, and current and are looking for
qualified RTDNA members to assist in the project.
What is O*NET? The Occupational Information Network
(O*NET) is a comprehensive database of worker attributes and job
characteristics. O*NET lets millions of
employers, workers, educators and students across the country see what is
required to do the work of over 900 occupations, and provides this information
free to the public online at http://online.onetcenter.org.
How Can I Help? We need volunteers who have at least 5 years experience as a
practicing or supervising Reporter and/or Correspondent and are still involved
in the occupation. Qualified volunteers will be asked to complete
questionnaires about tasks, required areas of knowledge, and working
conditions.
Please use
all of the information below to decide whether your occupational background matches
the O*NET occupation.
Reporters and
Correspondents: Collect and analyze
facts about newsworthy events by interview, investigation, or observation.
Report and write stories for newspaper, news magazine, radio, or television.
Why Participate? By participating you will contribute to the nation’s largest database of
occupational information and you’ll be providing information that could help
countless job seekers, students and educators throughout the country. Selected volunteers will get $40 and a framed
Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Department of Labor as tokens of
appreciation. Responses will be kept
confidential and will allow individuals of RTDNA to have a voice on how their
occupation is presented to the American public.
How Can I Volunteer? If you would like to
participate and meet the above criteria, please send your contact information

continuously updated occupational information. Thank you for your time and effort.
