RTDNF is excited to announce the entry period for 2019 scholarships and fellowships is now open. Applications will be accepted through Friday, January 18th.
Recent surveys show enrollment in journalism school is increasing, but so is student debt. The Radio Television Digital News Foundation’s scholarship program aims to lessen the burden and enable students to pursue their passion for the critical public service that is journalism.
Nine scholarships for journalism students and four fellowships for new professionals are available totaling more than $35,000 in awards.
There are a few changes to the scholarship and fellowship offerings for 2019:
The Presidents’ scholarship is now increased to a $2,500 award. Two of these scholarships are granted each year.
Beginning this year, the Pete Wilson scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students with a connection to the San Francisco Bay area. This is the only RTDNF scholarship available for graduate students.

For recent graduates and young professional journalists with fewer than 10 years of experience, RTDNF offers 4 fellowship opportunities.
Winners will be announced in May, and scholarship and fellowship recipients are also invited to Excellence in Journalism 2019, Sept. 5-7, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas.
