The 2014 fall class of RTDNF RIAS German exchange fellows are in Germany this month. During their two-week visit, they're learning about German media, politics and society, and traveling through cities like Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Stuttgart, along with Leipzig, Potsdam and Dresden.
One of the highlights of the trip is the chance to spend time in the renewed capital of the country, Berlin. And this week, while paying a visit to the famous Brandenburg Gate, the group saw a familiar face, former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw. Brokaw was the sole American news anchor present for the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago, and posed for a picture with the fellows.
More than a thousand journalists from the U.S. and Germany have participated in this unique transatlantic exchange. Through the program, our fellows have built bridges of understanding, both professionally and personally, with colleagues from across the ocean. Our alumni have also gone on to positions as international correspondents, anchors, news directors, and editors, and have also been accepted to longer term fellowship programs in Germany and across the globe.
Applications will be soon be accepted for the 2015 summer and fall exchange programs. For more information on how the program works and how you can take part, please visit our exchange program page.
