October 6, 2021 07:00

Susan Zirinsky, the 2021 recipient of RTDNA’s Paul White Award, paid tribute to the power of journalism and warned of the many challenges facing the industry in a speech at RTDNA21 to accept the award.

“Being a journalist, it’s not a job,” Zirinsky said. “It’s a calling.”

Zirinsky was named president of "See It Now Studios," where she oversees the development, production and distribution of original documentaries and docuseries for Paramount+, CBS, ViacomCBS networks and third-party platforms.

She said it is more important than ever that journalists dedicate themselves to the calling and fight for truth.

“As journalists, we’ve certainly had our share of tribulations,” she said. “Living and reporting in the COVID world has tested all of us. But our mission to report, separate the fact from fiction, could never have been more important.”
