About Us

Advocacy

RTDNA engages in advocacy to create an environment where journalists can safely and responsibly do their jobs – seeking and reporting the truth on behalf of the public. We authored the Right to Record Police Act and are an active advocate for several other pieces of legislation in the U.S. Congress, and have been involved in policy making in 49 of the 50 states.

Education

RTDNA is committed to providing ongoing education to journalists at all points in their careers. We help our members grow through our annual conference; our Code of Ethics and Coverage Guidelines; our webinar series; and our annual research survey, in conjunction with the Newhouse School at Syracuse University.

Honoring Excellence

Among the most prestigious in news, the Edward R. Murrow Awards recognize local and national news stories that uphold the RTDNA Code of Ethics, demonstrate technical expertise and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the public.
