Professional Bio
Galean P. Stewart, MPA, is a distinguished communications and media executive with more than two decades of leadership across public broadcasting, newsroom operations, crisis communications, and organizational strategy. She currently serves as Managing Editor for Mississippi Public Broadcasting, where she directs statewide editorial strategy, oversees radio news coordination, and fosters professional growth within the newsroom.
Throughout her career, Stewart has held senior leadership roles at WPTV News in West Palm Beach, WDAM News in Hattiesburg, and WLBT/FOX 40 News in Jackson. Her expertise spans digital expansion, strategic content development, breaking‑news leadership, regulatory compliance, and community‑driven journalism.
In addition to her industry leadership, Stewart is an adjunct professor at Jackson State University, where she teaches journalism and media courses and develops curriculum grounded in real‑world application. She is an Emmy Award recipient, a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a former board member for RTDNA Region 13.
Stewart holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, both from Belhaven University. Her professional development includes prestigious fellowships with the Scripps eMerge Program, NABJ Leadership Academy, and the Kneeland Project. She remains deeply committed to mentorship, ethical journalism, and the advancement of future media leaders.
