Professional Bio
Newsroom leader focused on leadership, building people up, advancing professional growth, and maximizing effort for the team.
I have 15+ years of journalism experience in local television newsrooms and (gulp) almost 25 years of broadcasting experience overall. My mother says my love of television started at the age of 3 when I wandered behind my grandparent's television asking, "Where are the people?"
I've done about every job in a newsroom, worked in several cities and states -- made great friends along the way, and learned what to do and not do from some of the best (and worst) in the news business.
My values I share with my newsroom:
1. Family
2. Truth, Accuracy, Ethics
3. Competitiveness
4. Empathy
5. Determination
As the lead journalist at WAND News in Decatur, IL, I get to work alongside the top journalists in central Illinois serving our community with news, weather, and sports everyday on a multitude of platforms.
Culture is paramount, negativity is a poison pill. We work together for our family and communities and that makes us the best. We've seen tremendous growth at WAND, inside and out -- and we walk tall as the most watched station in central Illinois, and make no apologies for it.
